Word of the Year...Intentional

2012 rolled into our lives when things were a bit (understatement) chaotic and for the first time in a long time I didn't even consider resolutions or goals or even spend much time looking back on 2011, which has always been my way.  So, when I came across Layla's @ The Lettered Cottage Word of the Year Linky Party it got me thinking.  Not new thoughts but thoughts that have been rolling through my head continually since we almost lost our precious youngest son on December 27, 2011.  The word that seems best to sum up what I am thinking and feeling is Intentional.

Intentional is defined as: Done on purpose; deliberate.
Synonyms are: deliberate - wilful - willful - purposeful - intended

I have always tried to be an intentional person; someone who pays attention and doesn't miss the details. But somewhere along the line I have become distracted and realize that I have become someone who does miss the details and doesn't see and appreciate the small stuff.  Sometime, some how...I just stopped focusing on what is really important. I stopped seeing the beauty in each moment.  Maybe I just got too busy, maybe I just go too lazy, either way...my desire, my prayer, my goal for 2012 is to live more intentionally.

I want to live on purpose, I want to be deliberate in my relationships.  I want to be willful in showing love. I want to be purposeful in my prayers, actions and even in my quiet moments.

Do you have a Word of the Year?

Boy, can I relate! It's so easy to get lost in the chaos of life.

I always get lost in the chaos of life...its so easy living in New York too.

It usually takes something to happen to me to realize that i need to stop and look at everything i have.

all the best!

Perfect word. PURPOSE was my New Year Wish for everyone {Paperwhite Wishes.}
Life changing events make one stop and consider what matters and cause to stop being distracted by the things that don't. My nephew died a year ago today {The Moment that Matters} so I can appreciate your feelings more than you know.

Wishing you a happy, healthy, INTENTIONAL 2012!

What a great choice & goal! I would hope that I live each day with intention, but I know sometimes I don't. I love this topic - I need to think of a great word to define my goals for this year.

Love this post Michelle! Best wishes for living a wonderful 2012 with intention :)

My word is DELIBERATE, so we'll be intentional together! I've been lurking, following the craziness of your past few weeks and praying for healing and answers.

BTW, my blog has moved. I'm posting this comment from the old blog id. You can follow the links from there without me posting them here and looking all spammy and such.

I love that! Last year, my word was "present" - (not ignoring the kids in favor of FB, enjoying everyday life! :-)) I think this year is "health" - JB is getting serious about losing weight, I have my own Zumba starting, our kids [KIDS!!! :'(] were diagnosed with genetically high cholestreol, so we just need to get healthier. :-) (I may blog this, too!)

Wow, Bella! You have inspired me, particularly by your last few lines: "I want to live on purpose, I want to be deliberate in my relationships. I want to be willful in showing love. I want to be purposeful in my prayers, actions and even in my quiet moments." I think this is a good goal for everyone, some people just flutter through life but having the courage and compassion to be intentional in your actions is most worthwhile!
