Southern Lit., Pick of the Week: What are YOU reading these Days?

source
Hey girls! This week, I am taking a bit of a breather from reading (well, actually I am doing some catch up reading - magazine style! Remember....fluff, it does a body good!) but I would love to hear what you are all reading and what you have found that you couldn't put down.

*Have you discovered a new author or just a new to you author?

*Have you redisovered a book you had long forgotten about?

*Do you have the scoop on some new amazing "southern" book that I should not miss?

Please leave a comment with what you are currently reading, what you have loved lately or what you can't wait to read. I am looking forward to getting some inspiration from you!

I'm getting ready to read _The Official Southern Ladies Guide to Hosting the Perfect Funeral_ . This book has been out for awhile and I'm so behind the times!! I've got a little free time coming up this week and I can't wait. Thanks for re-introducing some of us to the new great southern authors. :)

I'm getting ready to read _The Official Southern Ladies Guide to Hosting the Perfect Funeral_. I just discovered it and didn't realize it has been out for quite awhile. I have some free time coming up and I am hungry for some southern humor. Thank you for re-introducing some of us to the new great southern authors. :)

I'm getting ready to read a Robert Frost Biography, as time permits with a 3 and 1 year old... :)

Newbie here from the UK

I have just recently received a copy of Miss Julia Speaks her Mind by Ann B Ross.

I do like Southern literature after reading The Help and Saving CeeCee Honeycutt last year.

I'm reading When the Hurt Runs Deep by Kay Arthur and a great mystery called The Mountains Bow Down. I'm new to your blog--visiting with Weekend Bloggy Reading from Doorkeeper at http://reneeannsmith.com/. I read your post about looking for a new church home and wish you the best with finding that. Blessings!

I just finished Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and am now reading Intervention by Terri Blackstock. The story is set in Atlanta, but I'm not sure it would be considered a "southern" story.

I'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This weekend is going to be pure bliss as I've decided to unplug from the world of electronics. Hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Midnight Macaroons, I loved The Help. Hope you do, too.

I've just finished reading some wonderful trashy romances by Nora Roberts (The Dream Trilogy books), now I feel like I SHOULD read a classic to balance my brain cells...maybe The Picture of Dorian Gray....or Oliver Twist...but the trash is so much more fun. LOL

I'm reading the 4th book of the Outlander series. Whenever I get into these books, I end up thinking with a Scottish accent :)

The last book I read was Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Great book! I'm in the mood to read again (it was summer last time I read!), but I always have trouble finding something to read. With 3 kids (1-9) in tow, I can't really BROWSE the library, lol.

Hey! I am on a Grace Livingston Hill kick. I'm on my 5th book! As for Southern writers, I finished Pat Conroy's new one in December. Also, when I am watching tv or something I read SL and Victoria mags

Crazy in Alabama by Mark Childress. Original and zany, compulsively readable!
