South of Broad and as I was wandering around the bookstore trying to determine what I would read next, my eyes fell on a copy of Harper Lee's famous To Kill a Mockingbird.
I swear, I had to read this in school at some point (isn't that a law or something????) but I don't remember a thing about it if I did. Maybe it has always just been one of those books you knew about, whether you had read it or not? I don't know, but some how I have managed to miss this piece of great southern (actually, not just southern) fiction.
Though, as I am reading it, I can't help but wonder...how can it be called fiction as it is the life experience of so many who were reared in this region. So in honor of the 50th Anniversary of this wonderful piece of literature I am reading it (and loving it!!!).
